Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated:
This policy covers the Retro Analog Camera apps for Android and iOS (“the apps”) and this website. It describes what the software actually does, based on how we built and checked it.

Part A — The mobile apps
1. Overview
The apps are designed to work offline. They record and process video on your device. They do not require an account, and they contain no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect personal information through the apps. The apps do not send your videos, photos, audio, presets, settings or usage data to us or to anyone else.
We do not operate a server for the apps.
3. Camera
The camera is used to show a live preview and to record the videos you start. Camera frames are processed on your device.
4. Microphone
Audio recording is off by default. The apps ask for microphone permission only when you switch audio recording on, and capture audio only while you record with it on. You can turn it off at any time.
5. Photos and videos
App-private media. On iPhone, recordings and rendered videos are kept in the app’s private storage (the Vault). Presets and settings are also stored privately.
Media saved to the system library. On Android, recordings and rendered videos are saved to your device’s shared Movies folder (Movies/RetroVault) through the system media store, so other apps that you have allowed to access videos, such as gallery apps, can see them. On iPhone, a video is copied to your Photos library only if you choose “Save to Photos”; the app then asks for permission to add to your library.
Files you import. To import a video you pick it with the system picker (Android Photo Picker, iPhone photo picker). The app can read only the video you selected, not your library. It renders a new copy and never modifies the original.
6. Local processing and storage
Video effects, rendering and previews run on your device. Temporary working files are kept in app-private storage and are removed when a render finishes, is cancelled, or the app next starts. Presets and settings are stored privately on the device. There is no cloud sync.
Backups. The Android app opts out of system backup. On iPhone, the app’s private storage may be included in your iCloud or computer backups, depending on your device settings.
7. Network communication
The Android app does not request the internet permission. The iOS app contains no networking code. The apps therefore do not communicate over the network by themselves. If you use the system share sheet, the app you choose to share with handles the file under its own terms.
8. Third-party software
The Android app includes Android Jetpack, Kotlin and related open-source libraries for the user interface and camera; the iOS app uses only Apple system frameworks. None of them is used for advertising or analytics. See the Open-source licenses page for the list.
Google Play and the Apple App Store process your purchase and may provide us with aggregated, non-personal statistics under their own policies. We do not receive your name or payment details.
We do not share personal information because we do not collect it. When you share or export a video, you decide where it goes.
10. Retention and deletion
Delete a video in the Vault to remove it from the device. On Android, videos saved to the shared Movies folder stay there until you delete them, including after you uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app’s private data, including presets.
11. Children’s privacy
The apps are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Because the apps can record video, a parent or guardian should supervise use by a child.
12. Security
Keeping processing on your device reduces exposure, but no software is perfectly secure. Your videos are protected by your device’s own security (screen lock and encryption, where enabled). Anyone with access to your unlocked device, or to apps you have allowed to read your videos, can see them.
13. Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, contact us and we will respond as the law in your country requires.
Part B — This website
14. What the website does
This website is a static set of pages. It does not use cookies, local storage, analytics, advertising or tracking, and it has no forms or accounts. Fonts and images are served from the website itself, so your browser makes no requests to third-party services to display it. We checked this in the site code as built.
15. Hosting and server logs
Like any website, the host that serves these pages may automatically process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, in server logs for security and operation. Hosting provider: [hosting provider — to be completed]. We do not receive or use these logs to identify visitors.
16. Links and messages
Store buttons and other links take you to third-party sites with their own policies. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply, and we keep them as long as needed to handle your request.
17. Security of the website
The website should be served over HTTPS. Because it collects no personal information, there is little to protect, but no website can be guaranteed secure.
General
18. Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will update this page and its date, and we will explain material changes in the app’s release notes.
